Real Estate Belair

Belair sits in a dress circle location on and behind the escarpment overlooking Adelaide but only 15-20 minutes drive from the CBD. Originally real estate in Belair consisted of small farms and orchards but also had a smattering of grand homes taking advantage of the cooler hills summers and the Belair National Park.

The initial suburban development of real estate in Belair saw the building of a lot of timber frame homes on large irregular allotments in the 1940’s to 1960’s, many of which have come to the end of their useful lifespans and have been replaced with better quality brick veneer homes. However there were also many better quality homes in Belair incorporating local stone and taking advantage of the views and spacious allotments which average over 1000 square meters.

True ‘suburbanisation’ of real estate in Belair occurred in the 1970s and 1980s, so now the area has a very varied character with no particular style of home being the dominant form of real estate.

The hills environment had a tendency to attract the bohemian fringe and the concentration of architects among the residents is still evident!

Recreationally, Belair is dominated by the Belair National Park. Walking, picnics and barbecues, bicycling, tennis and ovals. Opportunities for weddings or family reunions or a gentle walk with the grandkids to feed the ducks. While the park isn’t quite the mecca it was in the early 1900s it is still an extremely pleasant and popular resource.
